POSITION: NURSE
Reporting to: HEALTH & WELLNESS TEAM LEADER
LOCATION: RUBONA – RWAMAGANA, EASTERN PROVINCE

Job purpose:
The work involves delivering basic practice nursing services care as well as
helping the youth to
recover from the acute physical diseases, mental distress and enduring
emotional issues or mental
illness to maximize their life potential.
Key responsibilities :
• Caring and empathetic for patients experiencing physical/medical problem and
acute mental distress or chronic mental illness
• Responsible for his/her written clinical evaluation of children
• Assessing and talking to patients about their problems and discussing the
best way
to plan and deliver their care
• Build relationships with kids and their caregivers to encourage trust, while
listening
and interpreting their needs and concerns
• Ensuring the correct administration of medication, including injections, and
monitoring the results of treatment
• Responding to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and attempting
to
understand the source of distress
• Observes patient, records and reports the patients’ conditions and behavior
• Provide health education to children and staff members

NURSE VACANT POSITION

• Producing care plans and risk assessment for individual patients; preparing
and
maintaining patient records
• Fostering communication between patients, family mothers, and psychosocial
workers as well as attending meetings to review and monitor progress when
necessary
• Promoting health and wellbeing, and prevent adverse effects
• Identify and manage as appropriate, treatment plans for patients at risk of
developing an infectious ailment, chronic and/or long-term condition
• Prioritize health problems and intervene appropriately to assist the patient
in
complex, urgent, emergency situation including initiation of effective
emergency
care
• Refer patients to appropriate internal health professional
• Support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that encourage
patients to
live healthily, and encourage principles of self-care
• Assuring adequate maintenance of the clinic’s school branch, medical
materials and
other clinic material/equipment
• Utilize and demonstrate sensitive communication styles, to ensure patients
are fully
informed and consent to treatment
• Produce and submit reports of his/her scope of work according to
departmental
requirements
• Perform any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
? A1 in general nursing approved by the Ministry of Health
? At least two years’ work experience as a practicing nurse in a clinical
setting
? Having knowledge of modern methods, techniques and procedures used in
general
professional nursing; medical and basics in psychiatric terminology
? Well-rounded knowledge of practices, equipment, and legislation of the
Rwandan Health
System
? A naturally caring and empathetic approach to the youth population
? Communication, organizational and administrative skills
? Fluent in Kinyarwanda and English or French
? Desire to constantly learn and improve professional knowledge and abilities
? Ability to prioritize and work well under stress and meet deadlines
? Must be willing to live in the village at Rwamagana.
